Preparing for Your Shoot

Firstly, thank you so much for trusting me with your memories. It truly means the world to me. I’m so excited to capture the beautiful connection within your family — the love, the laughter, the little in-between moments that mean the most.

These sessions are designed to be short and sweet — just 15 minutes is all we need. I work quickly and intentionally, focusing on those natural, candid interactions. I’ll gently guide you with simple prompts to bring out genuine laughter and connection, and I’ll position you in ways that feel natural and flattering for those timeless portrait shots.

Expect lots of closeness — warm hugs, cheek-to-cheek cuddles, nose kisses, hand-holding, and snuggling in tight. The magic is in the connection.

Your session time is secured, and your retainer has been received — thank you! A remaining balance invoice of $200 will be sent one week prior to your shoot.

      What to Wear

One of the lovely things about a studio session (compared to my outdoor family shoots) is that we don’t have to worry about practicality. No running through fields, no climbing, no weather to contend with — just beautiful, simple connection.

Here are some ideas to help you choose:

      Neutrals & Whites

Soft whites, creams, beige, and light earthy tones photograph beautifully in studio light. They create a timeless, cohesive look and keep the focus on your faces and connection. Click here for examples.

      Earthy Tones

Warm browns, soft greens, muted rusts, and clay tones pair beautifully together and feel grounded and natural. Click here for examples.

      Casual & Relaxed

Lounge wear, a casual button-up shirt, an oversized knit, or a flowing feminine dress can feel intimate and effortless. Think cozy and connected. Click here for examples.

      Babies & Toddlers

For little ones, simple is best. Bare feet are always perfect. For babies, you might even consider no shirt or a simple nappy cover/bare bottom for a soft, organic feel. These images can feel incredibly tender and timeless. Pair this with mum in a soft dress or dad in neutral lounge wear for a cohesive look. Click here for examples.

      Denim & Texture

A mix of denim pieces, soft fabrics, or layered textures can add depth without overwhelming the image.

      Want Something More Formal?

You absolutely can! Coordinated dressier outfits can create elegant, classic portraits. Just keep colours complementary rather than perfectly matching. Click here for examples.

      Maternity

If you’ve booked to capture your pregnancy, you have complimentary access to my client closet. Feel free to have a browse and let me know if you would like to be photographed in any of the available dresses and robes.

If you’re drawn to something a little more relaxed, modern, or intimate for your maternity session — I absolutely love incorporating pieces you may already have in your wardrobe. Sometimes the simplest outfits create the most powerful images. For e.g. an oversized button shirt, or unzipped jeans with a bralette. Some inspo pics below.

      Hair & Makeup

Please arrive with your hair and makeup styled in a way that makes you feel confident and beautiful. When you feel good, it shows.

I often capture close-up moments — hands intertwined, fingers wrapped around tiny hands, a gentle touch on the cheek. If you love having your nails done, this might be a lovely time to treat yourself. And if you’d like your rings included in the photos, be sure to wear them (so many mums tell me afterward they meant to but forgot!).

      What to Bring

If you have young children, snacks and drinks are always a great idea. Sometimes a little “reward” goes a long way in helping us create those 15 minutes of magic.

For maternity sessions, you’re welcome to bring along a sonogram photo or a tiny newborn outfit if you’d like to incorporate those details into your images.

      Arriving at the Studio

Please arrive 5 minutes before your allocated session time. This allows you to settle in, check outfits and makeup, and ensures we start and finish on time.

There is convenient parking directly in front of the studio.

      After Your Shoot

You’ll receive your full gallery one week before Mother’s Day, ready for you to download, share, and enjoy straight away.

Within your gallery, you’ll also have access to order professional prints and frames. Please note that production times may vary depending on what you order.

I truly can’t wait to capture your family’s connection. These sessions are quick, relaxed, and full of heart — and I promise to make the experience feel easy and enjoyable from beginning to end.
