Some families you get to photograph more than once, and that’s always something special.
I first met Anna and Steven when they were a family of three, capturing their photos among the purple fields at Kooroomba Lavender Farm and Vineyard. Fast forward a little while, and they returned as a family of four, ready to update their family photos in another beautiful part of the Scenic Rim.
This time, we chose the wide open landscapes of Lake Moogerah.

A Scenic Rim Day Trip from Brisbane
For families living in Brisbane, Lake Moogerah makes an incredible day trip location for photos.
Surrounded by mountains and open water, the scenery feels expansive and peaceful—perfect for relaxed, natural family photos. It’s one of those places where kids can run, parents can relax, and everything unfolds naturally.
Anna and Steven made a day of it, heading out from Brisbane and enjoying some quiet time together as a family in the Scenic Rim before our session.

Embracing the Wind and Movement
The day we met at Lake Moogerah was very windy—the kind of wind that makes hair fly and dresses move.
Instead of fighting it, we leaned into it.
The breeze added movement to the photos and gave the whole session a natural, honest feel. Clothes shifted, the kids ran around, and the landscape felt alive around them.
Sometimes the imperfect conditions create the most memorable images.

A Beautiful Backdrop for Family Photos
Lake Moogerah offers one of the most striking landscapes in the Scenic Rim.
With mountains rising behind the lake and wide open water stretching across the horizon, it creates a backdrop that feels both dramatic and peaceful at the same time.
For Anna and Steven’s session, the setting gave us:
- sweeping mountain views
- soft grassy lakeside areas for the kids to explore
- a huge open sky that made everything feel spacious and calm
It’s a wonderful place for families who want natural, relaxed photos in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Watching Families Grow
One of the best parts of family photography is seeing families return as their lives change.
Photographing Anna and Steven again—this time with two children instead of one—felt like continuing a story we started years ago.
The laughter, the chaos, the cuddles… all the things that make family life what it is.
And those are exactly the moments worth remembering.
